5pm PDT Fri Apr 12. Cold front is still approaching the Bay Area.

5pm PDT Sat Apr 13. Cold front has passed, low pressure system is over the Bay Area centered offshore, bringing southwest winds which means warm moist air. This will likely lead to unstable conditions which may result in thunderstorms and hail, particularly for the southern coastal portions of the Bay Area (off the coast of Santa Cruz Co and the Monterey Bay).

The SF Bay Area Skywarn group will be activated April 4 and 5. SF Bay Area Skywarn members should monitor the K6MPN repeater (444.500 MHz, +5.0 MHz offset, PL=100Hz CTCSS tone) for severe weather and storm damage reports, and make reports as appropriate. Please keep in mind that we are SECONDARY users on the K6MPN repeater, which is a primary resource for the South County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (SCARES) group. If you are a NWS-trained weather spotter, you may submit storm reports directly to the NWS Weather Forecast Office in Monterey, CA.

Showers starting this morning, followed by possible thunderstorms this afternoon, tonight, and lingering into Friday. Good chance of thunderstorms and small hail due to unstable conditions. Colder than normal temps.

11pm PDT Wed Apr 3. Low pressure system and associated cold front heading our way.

5pm PDT Thur Apr 4. The front will have passed and the low will be right off our coast. As it continues to move south and then east, it will set up a similar situation to what we had last Saturday. Stay safe!!
